Rates & Methodology
CashCalc shows indicative mid‑market rates for quick reference. The mid‑market rate is the midpoint between wholesale buy and sell prices quoted on global FX venues. Retail providers (banks, apps, card processors) usually add a spread and may charge fees, so your final rate can differ.
How we calculate
- Source: we aggregate publicly available reference feeds and normalize to a mid‑market baseline.
- Refresh: pairs are refreshed on a rolling schedule throughout the day; extreme volatility may introduce short delays.
- Formula: for base currency
Aand quote currencyB, the displayed rate isB/A; conversion isamount_A × rate. - Rounding: values are rounded for readability; do not use for trading or accounting.
Example
If USD→COP mid‑market is 4200.00 and a provider uses a 2.0% spread plus a $3 fee, your $100 converts to 100×(4200×0.98)=411,600 COP, then fees may apply on top depending on funding method.
Limitations
Displayed rates are informational and may lag during high‑volatility events or maintenance windows. Always confirm the final price inside your chosen app before sending money.
